I am really glad I chose to watch "Little Kids, Big Possibilities" from the choices of videos in the cluster. Elementary teachers, I really recommend this one! I definitely learned alot. Kelly Hines, a fourth grade teacher, discusses different websites that are helpful to classrooms that have students under the age of thirteen.
I really look forward to trying out wallwisher.com, the first website Hines discusses. It sounds like it is a website that is almost like a virtual bulletin board or whiteboard, so that kids can manipulate information and categorize it almost as if the information were on sticky notes or on notecards.
The website looks really basic and simple for young students, so I am excited to check it out.
I also look forward to checking out opportunities for my students to create comics online. Hines recommends using comiccreators.com, garfield.com, and comics.com. She has had her students use comics to retell stories or sequences stories. I think it would be lots of fun to have my class work together to create a comic. It will be great!
