An Introduction to Voice Threads: Group Activity

In an exploration of voice threads, Dennis asked everyone to listen/read various comments expressed in a voice thread link provided on our class Wiki. We were then asked to bring three statements to class that each person found particularly interesting from his or her review. On February 3rd, everyone counted off and organized into groups of five to discuss the collected fifteen statements and compile a select list of five statements decided upon by the group. In my particular group, there were two statements noticed by more than one member of the group, and there was a general interest in the idea that this avenue provided a very personal means of communication, an idea shared by several of the participants. Several of us found this ironic because of the impersonal nature of computers in general. One member liked the idea of being able to multitask while listening to the voice threads, and other members agreed. One thing that some of us, including myself, failed to realize was that there were several voice threads included in the link, covering many different topics. Because this activity made me aware of that, I was then able to go back and investigate again what I missed the first time around.
