Class Review January 20th

Our third class brought a certain amount of clarity to the challenges that we are committed to overcome. Signing onto our class site and finding the session two assignments suddenly didn't seem quite so confusing. We discussed the differences between a PLN (Professional Learning Network), PLC (Professional Learning Community) and a CoP (a Community of Practice). A PLC is a smaller community, a CoP is a larger community such as our Cohasset class which focuses on pedagogical decisions, and a PLN is more of a global site.

After watching the clip on "Progressive Education in the 1940s", we discussed the similarities and differences in view points on education over the last sixty years. Personally, I thought that the theories remained pretty much the same, but the technology has changed drastically.

The class was then given an opportunity to explore. The room was filled with confusion and excitement as we wandered into the unfamiliar territory of voice threads, digital environments, Wordle creations, and Edublogs. By the next class, we will all hopefully have obtained a little more clarity on whatever we choose to focus on. Remember the 16 Habit of the Mind for the 21st Century. Take risks and be persistent!
